SPRINGFIELD, MO — Friends of the Garden, in partnership with the Springfield-Greene County Park Board, presents the 16th annual Butterfly Festival Saturday, June 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Springfield Botanical Gardens at Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park, 2400 S. Scenic Ave.

This free, all-ages festival celebrates the beauty and importance of caterpillars, butterflies, moths, and other pollinators through engaging activities, educational exhibits, and interactive vendors. The centerpiece of the event is the Roston Native Butterfly House, Missouri’s only butterfly house dedicated exclusively to native species.

Attendees may enjoy:

  • Dozens of local vendors and conservation booths
  • The Caterpillar Petting Zoo and other educational activities
  • Docent-led tours through the Roston Native Butterfly House
  • Free admission to Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden during the event.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets and spend the day exploring the gardens in peak summer bloom.

The full vendor list and volunteer sign-up information may be found at FriendsoftheGarden.org/butterfly-festival.

The 2025 Butterfly Festival is made possible through generous support from Renewal by Andersen, Leaf Filter, and the Springfield-Greene County Park Board.

Friends of the Garden’s mission is to inspire the discovery, understanding and appreciation of nature by creating and maintaining gardens at the Springfield Botanical Gardens and by supporting the mission of the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center and the Park Board.
