SPRINGFIELD, MO — The Springfield-Greene County Park Board, in partnership with Lake Country Soccer, celebrates the grand opening of the Cooper Soccer Complex synthetic turf fields and other renovations Saturday, March 29, at 11 a.m. at Cooper Soccer North Fields, 2147 E Pythian St., located between Killian Sports Complex and Cooper Tennis Complex.
The event marks the completion of Phase 1 of the $28.5 million Cooper Park Sports Complex improvements announced in November, 2022. Phase 1 included:
- Synthetic turf installed on eight Cooper Park/Lake Country Soccer fields on the north side of Pythian St., including upgrading the Greenwood Championship field
- Development of new Soccer Stadium environment
- New soccer field restrooms, concessions and locker rooms
- ADA-accessible walkways
- Additional shade and fan-friendly areas
Phase 2, currently underway, calls for similar improvements at Killian Sports Complex and Cooper Youth Baseball Complex, including synthetic turf on 11 ballfields. Phase 2 is expected to be complete later this year.
