Weekend Picks 11/20/20

Psssst! Santa is coming to Springfield this weekend! Here’s a look at what else is going on:

What to Watch

In theaters: You can catch new releases like Let Him GoFreaky, and Tenet at the AMC Springfield 11 this weekend. They’re also showing classics like Toy Story and The Santa Clause! Has anyone tried renting it yet?! The Gillioz will be showing Dirty Dancing at 8 o’clock as part of their Friday Film Series.

Streaming: Christmas is now streaming. Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square drops on Netflix this weekend. The new show Big Sky premieres on Hulu this weekend. It stars Ryan Phillppe and is a story about two girls who get kidnapped on a remote Montana highway. The Mandalorian episode 4 drops on Disney+.

Things to Do

Live Music: One of our favorites, Just Larkin, plays at Great Escape Beer Works starting at 7:00 p.m. Enjoy some tunes and brews!

Bark at the Park: Starting at noon on Saturday the Route 66 Food Truck Park is inviting you and your furry friends to visit. The folks from HavaHeart Rescue will be there so you can meet the team, eat yummy food, and have some family fun! HavaHeart rescues and rehabilitates abandoned and abused dogs.

Selfies with Santa: The City of Springfield has teamed up with Hotel Vandivort and Systematic Bank for Springfield’s first ever Selfies with Santa Drive-Thru holiday experience! Coast through the festively decorated Systematic Savings tunnel to enter a winter wonderland. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at the end where you can take a socially-distanced selfie. There’s a toy drive for Habitat for Humanity. The event starts at 8:00 p.m. after the Mayor’s tree lighting ceremony in Springfield, which will be on KY3 this year instead of in-person.

Drive-In: Believe it or not, the drive-in in Carthage is still open. You can catch a double feature of Polar Express and Christmas Vacation. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and showtime is at 6:30 p.m.
