Original co-star of 'The Crow' continues to slag remake

Lionsgate

Rochelle Davis, who was a child actor in 1994's The Crow, continues to shade the upcoming remake of the film.

Davis played troubled tween Sarah in the movie that starred Brandon Lee, who was mortally wounded on set Mar 31, 1993, after a firearms mishap. She tells TMZ Bill Skarsgård was done dirty by the choices director Rupert Sanders made for the look of Skarsgård's character, Eric Draven.

Sanders previously told Vanity Fair that Post Malone and rapper Lil' Peep were among his design influences for the hero.

"Yuck" was how Davis summed it up to the gossip site.

That said, she gave props to the casting of Eric's doomed love, Shelly, played in this version by FKA Twigs.

According to James O. Barr's comic book source material, Draven is brought back from the dead to avenge his and his love's murders.

It wasn't the first time Davis was critical of the project. She's posted memes comparing this tattooed-face version of Draven to Jared Leto's much-criticized Joker in the original Suicide Squad movie.

A TikTok post from December, captioned "Boycott The Crow Remake," saw Davis paraphrasing her own character's voice-over from the beginning of the original film.

"People once believed that when an actor dies on set, the person responsible would show respect," she began. "But sometimes, instead they cash in on the light of that beautiful soul, and the people that love him can't rest. But sometimes. Just sometimes, we can boycott the crap out of that money grabber and put the wrong things right."

Needless to say, Davis says she has "no interest whatsoever" in seeing the remake, which opens in theaters June 7.

Glass Animals release new song "Creatures in Heaven" off upcoming album

Frank Hoensch/Redferns

Glass Animals have released a new song called "Creatures in Heaven," the first single off the band's just-announced upcoming album, I Love You So F****** Much.

The record is due out July 19. It's the fourth Glass Animals studio effort and the follow-up to 2020's Dreamland, which spawned the mega-hit "Heat Waves."

"These are love songs," frontman Dave Bayley says. "They look at all the twisted shapes and forms of love, good and bad. They were born out of a large existential crisis. So maybe it is fair to call them 'existential love songs.' I tried to work my way out of this existential crisis, and that resulted in some writing. That writing ended up being the backbone to this album."

You can listen to "Creatures in Heaven" now via digital outlets.

Here's the I Love You So F****** Much track list:

"Show Pony"
"whatthehellishappening?"
"Creatures in Heaven"
"Wonderful Nothing"
"A Tear in Space (Airlock)"
"I Can't Make You Fall in Love Again"
"How I Learned to Love the Bomb"
"White Roses"
"On the Run"
"Lost in the Ocean"

Michelle Obama praises Beyoncé and Cowboy Carter: "I am so proud of you!"

Blair Caldwell

The latest celebrity to sing Beyoncé's praises for what she's accomplished on her new album, Cowboy Carter, is an old pal of hers: Michelle Obama.

On Instagram, the former first lady posted a photo of the album cover and wrote, "@beyone you are a record-breaker and history-maker. With Cowboy Carter, you have changed the game once again by helping redefine a music genre and transform our culture. I am so proud of you!"

Mrs. Obama continued, "Cowboy Carter is a reminder that despite everything we’ve been through to be heard, seen, and recognized, we can still dance, sing, and be who we are unapologetically. This album reminds us that we ALL have power."

She then pivoted to the importance of voting, noting, "There’s power in our history, in our joy, and in our votes — and we can each use our own gifts and talents to make our voices heard on the issues that matter most to us.
Together, we can stand up for what we believe in, and we must do that at the ballot box this year."

Mrs. Obama concluded her message by writing, "As Queen Bey says at the end of 'Ya Ya,' we need to 'keep the faith' and 'VOTE!'” She then provided a link to WhenWeAllVote.org to register.

Bey has a long history with the Obamas: Her husband, Jay-Z, campaigned for former President Barack Obama during his first run for office, and she serenaded the couple during their first dance at the inaugural ball in 2009. She also sang the national anthem at his second inauguration. The Obama family, at various times, has attended Bey's concerts over the years.

Travis Kelce confirms he'll head to Europe to "support" Taylor Swift on new Eras Tour leg

TAS Rights Management

Travis Kelce is busy with his own career, but he plans on flying overseas to join girlfriend Taylor Swift on the next leg of her Eras Tour, which starts May 9 in France.

Asked by Entertainment Tonight if he plans on "packing his bags" and taking in a couple of shows, Travis said, "Oh, you know I gotta go support!" He also suggested Taylor's eight-night stand in London's Wembley Stadium as shows that can't be missed.

"[It's] mind blowing that she can do that many shows in one stadium and fill that thing up! I played in Wembley once, and I don't even think we filled that thing all the way up!" he laughed. He didn't confirm which shows he'd attend, but he said, "London's always an amazing city" and "Paris is a beautiful city."

Asked how he and Taylor make their busy schedules work, Travis explained, "I think we're both very career-driven. I think we both love what we do. And any chance that I can show my support to her, knowing that she's shown me all the support in the world throughout the [football] season...it's just been an amazing experience getting to know Tay."

And not just her, but her musical interests, too.

"It's definitely been fun getting to experience her taste in music," the Chiefs tight end noted. "To see where she likes to pull things from...and really just how she listens to music is eye-opening to me."

Travis' Kelce Jam music festival will take place in Kansas City, Kansas, in May with headliners Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz and Diplo. But US Weekly reports Travis and Taylor may hit up another music festival — Coachella —  this month to see Taylor's pals Lana Del Rey and Jack Antonoff, who's playing with his band Bleachers.

Dwayne Johnson will induct his grandmother into WWE Hall of Fame

Disney/Greg Williams

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is proud to announce he will be inducting his late grandmother Lia Maivia into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2024.

In a joint Instagram post, Johnson shared a video montage featuring Maivia, one of the first women to become a powerful sports-entertainment promoter. She died in 2008 at the age of 77.

The clip began with a moment from Johnson's visit to his grandparents' cemetery at Diamond Head Memorial Park in Honolulu, Hawaii.

In a voice-over, Johnson called his grandmother "a pioneer in our business of professional wrestling."

"She took over my grandfather's wrestling company here in Hawaii, and she made a promise to my grandfather when he was dying on his deathbed," he said.

After the passing of her late husband, WWE Hall of Famer "High Chief" Peter Maivia in 1982, Maivia took over control of the National Wrestling Alliance territory in Hawaii, where she became one of wrestling's first woman promoters, the release said.

In the caption, Johnson paid tribute to Maivia, calling her "a trail blazer," "protector of our family" and "the real Final Boss."

Among one of the biggest events she promoted was 1985's A Hot Summer Night, which featured several WWE Hall of Famers, including André the Giant, Ric Flair and Dusty Rhodes. The event drew a crowd of more than 20,000, per WWE.

The WWE added of Maivia, "Her strong-willed business sense coupled with her love of sports-entertainment left a lasting and profound impact on the industry and the many people she influenced and impacted in her amazing life."

Maivia's induction ceremony into the WWE Hall of Fame will take place on Friday, April 5, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

Dua Lipa's Service95 book club pick for April is a memoir by a fellow musician

Courtesy Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa's Service95 book club selection for April is a book by a fellow female musician with an immigrant background.

The book is Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner, the Grammy-nominated indie artist who records under the name Japanese Breakfast. Dua writes on Instagram, "With this book, she also proves herself to be a first-class memoirist, writing with raw honesty about her difficult teenage relationship with her mother and the grief that follows her mother’s death from cancer."

The daughter of Albanian parents, Dua, who moved to the U.K. from Kosovo, notes that "much of this story centres around the cultural and identity issues Michelle grappled with growing up in the U.S. with a feckless American father and a tough Korean mother."

"Somehow food, and specifically the intricate traditional Korean dishes her mother prepared with such love and skill, becomes the theme which keeps mother and daughter together, and unites Michelle with the Korean half of her identity even after her mother has passed away," writes Dua. "Everyone with an immigrant background will find relatability searching in a specialist food shop for food that reminds you of home."

If you're not familiar, H Mart is a supermarket chain that specializes in Asian food.

Dua says the "beautiful and heartbreaking" book made her "bawl her eyes out," but she adds, "I also loved it and I hope you do too."

This month's book club content features Michelle's reading list, a curated playlist of her favorite Korean bands and songs she listened to while writing the novel, as well as various articles about food in South Korea and a Q&A between Dua and Michelle.

Jim Parsons, Katie Holmes headed to Broadway with 'Our Town' revival

CBS/Johnny Vy

Thorton Wilder's beloved, Pulitzer-winning play Our Town is headed back to Broadway this fall, with Big Bang Theory Emmy winner Jim Parsons and The Dark Knight's Katie Holmes taking the leads.

The stars will join Zoey Deutch, Richard Thomas, Ephraim Sykes, Hamilton vet Donald Webber Jr. and Tony-winning director Kenny Leon in the production at the Barrymore Theatre in New York City.

Parsons will play the stage manager who "narrates the daily lives of its locals, depicts a childhood friendship turn into marriage, and sets the stage for magnificent truths of what it means to be alive," according to the historic theater's website.

Holmes will play Mrs. Webb, another of the play's classic characters, and Deutch, in her Broadway debut, will play her daughter Emily.

Katie made her Broadway debut in the 2008 and last starred on the Great White Way in 2012's Dead Accounts.

The curtain will rise for previews of the "strictly limited engagement of an essential American classic" on September 17, ahead of an October 10 opening.
