Tate McRae goes from "sad girl" to "pop girl" with new single "greedy"

RCA

Tate McRae wants you to know that she's not just a "sad girl songwriter." The Canadian singer has released a new single and video called "greedy." She tells People, "I'm in my pop girl era."

"I feel like I have this persona sometimes on the internet of being this sad girl songwriter," she explains. "And I think obviously that's one side of me that's so sensitive and emotional and it's my outlet, is writing."

"But then there's also this whole other side of my personality that so many people don't know until they actually meet me in person and they're like, 'Oh my God, you're nothing like your songs,'" she continues. "And it's so funny. I'm just like, 'Oh, I've never realized that. I've actually never shown that through my music.'"

Tate says this perception of her led to an interaction that inspired "Greedy."

"A guy had come up to me at a bar and he was like, 'Oh, you're so mysterious and I feel like I know nothing about you. You keep your cards so close to your chest,'" she tells People. "Then I was thinking, and I'm like, 'Yeah, it takes a lot for me to really open up and get to know someone.'"

She adds, "We started writing this really sassy song about the feeling of having utter confidence being like, 'Yeah, it takes a lot to really get me to open up.' And it ended up feeling like this really cool female empowerment song, which I loved."

Tate — who guest stars in Olivia Rodrigo's video for "bad idea right?" —shot the video for "greedy" in an empty hockey arena.

She is currently out on her Are We Flying Tour, which wraps up October 13 in Seattle.

All Time Low & Avril Lavigne release new collaborative single, "Fake As Hell"

Fueled By Ramen

All Time Low and Avril Lavigne have released a new collaborative single called "Fake As Hell."

"'Fake As Hell' is a song about recognizing what's real and saying goodbye to what's not," says ATL frontman Alex Gaskarth. "It's about cutting ties with people and things that don't lift you up and help you progress. It's a wave goodbye to whatever's in the rear-view mirror and a new perspective on the road ahead."

Gaskarth adds, "Collaborating on this one with Avril is a dream realized and getting to watch her do what she does best in the studio was crazy inspiring."

You can listen to "Fake As Hell" now via digital outlets.

"Fake As Hell" follows All Time Low's album Tell Me I'm Alive, which was released in March and includes the singles "Sleepwalking" and "Calm Down." Lavigne released her latest album, Love Sux, in 2022.

Jennifer E. Smith "had chills" watching her romance novel get adapted into 'Love at First Sight'

Rob Baker Ashton/Netflix

The new romance film Love at First Sight drops on Netflix Friday, and for Jennifer E. Smith, the author of the book the movie is based on, watching her words come to life couldn’t be more surreal.

The film centers around two people who fall in love while on a flight to London. There was one moment Smith really hoped would feel just like her book, and she is happy to report that stars Haley Lu Richardson and Ben Hardy pulled it off.

“When they almost kiss outside the bathrooms on the plane,” Smith said. “The first time I saw it in the movie, I cried. I had chills. It's just, it's even better than I imagined it, honestly, when I was writing it.”

This isn’t the first time one of her books has been adapted for the screen — Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between was released in 2022 — but Smith says it’s always nerve-racking.

“You're always thinking about the readers who love the source material and wanting them to be happy with an adaptation,” Smith said. “I've just been very, very fortunate with both of these in having teams who really cared about the book.”

In fact, Smith had such a great time watching her book come to life that it messed up her cameo in the film. She was supposed to play a disgruntled person in line at a ticket counter, but she was having too good of a time to pretend to be angry.

“I was, like, biting my lip to keep from smiling,” Smith said. “And then [director Vanessa Caswill] called me back and she was like, ‘You're too happy.’ And I was like, ‘I am happy, though. My book is being made into a movie right now. I can't not be happy.’"

Jason Kelce addresses rumors about brother Travis and Taylor Swift

Lisa Lake/TAS23/Getty Images for TAS Rights Management

If Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are dating, Travis' brother doesn't know anything about it.

After Jason Kelce's team, the Philadelphia Eagles, beat the Minnesota Vikings on September 14, Jason did a post-game interview on TNF Nightcap, where co-host Tony Gonzalez asked Jason if the rumors about Travis and Taylor are true.

"I've seen these rumors…I cannot comment," Jason said. He added, "Every since [his E! reality show] Catching Kelce, everybody's been infatuated with Travis' love life, so I don't really know what's going on there.  So yeah, I know Travis is having fun and we'll see what happens ... with whoever he ends up with!"

In July, Travis, who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs, told his brother that he was disappointed that he didn't get to meet Taylor in person ahead of the Kansas City stop of the Eras Tour, revealing that he'd made a friendship bracelet for her with his "number" on it.  It's not clear if he meant his phone number or his jersey number.

Neither Travis nor Taylor's reps have commented on the rumors, but if we're going by her exes, Taylor seems to prefer British guys.  In addition to her ex Joe Alwyn, who's British, she's also reportedly dated Brits Calvin Harris, Tom Hiddleston and Harry Styles, and allegedly had a fling with The 1975's singer Matty Healy.
