Courtesy MTV

Justin Timberlake has made the first public acknowledgement that he and *NSYNC have reunited for a new song.

On Instagram, he posted a video of the group working in the studio on "Better Place," which is coming out September 29.

"So many starts aligned that that's why I hit y'all," Justin says while addressing the other band members. In edited snippets of his remarks, he continues, "Something came up. If we do this song, it's a love letter to our fans. I would be honored to have the group on this song."

Then someone says, "Who's ready for a reunion?"

What follows is footage of all the guys taking their turns in the vocal booth as Justin and the engineers work to perfect the track. When it's done, Lance Bass notes it's the first finished *NSYNC tune in 23 years.

"Listen man, I love you guys. That s*** is epic, man," Justin says after listening to the playback.

Justin captioned the post, "When the stars align… got my brothers back together in the studio to work on something fun and the energy was special. Better Place is coming 9/29 LOVE Y'ALL."

"Better Place" is part of the soundtrack of Justin's upcoming animated film Trolls Band Together, which is coming out in November.

Donald Glover’s 'Star Wars' project 'Lando' no longer a TV series, theatrical film instead

Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images

It looks like Donald Glover’s new Star Wars project about Lando Calrissian will no longer be a TV series for Disney+, but a theatrical film instead.

Deadline confirmed the news on Thursday, September 14, after Donald’s brother and co-creative on the project, Stephen Glover, broke the story on an episode of the Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast that was released the same morning.

“It’s not even a show,” Stephen said. “The idea right now is to do a movie ... Right now because of the strike it’s like [a game of] telephone.”

The brother duo took over writing duties for Lando back in July, replacing Justin Simien.

This new Lando project was first announced at a Disney investor day in December 2020, where it was described as a series made for Disney+.

Donald first appeared as Lando Calrissian in the 2018 film Solo: A Star Wars Story, taking over the iconic character that Billy Dee Williams originated in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.

Disney is the parent company of ABC News and Lucasfilm.

Sia talks battling years of depression, says autism diagnosis is "best thing that ever happened to me"

Courtesy Apple Music

Sia's back with a new song, "Gimme Love," with a new album, Reasonable Woman, coming in 2024. She recently revealing she wrote the song and made the album while fighting a "severe" bout of depression.

Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, Sia explained, "I had just been, every now and again, writing a song here or there for the last six, seven years. I got divorced and that really threw me for a loop."

Sia and her first husband, Erik Anders, split in 2016. She tells Zane, "That was such a dark time that I was in bed for three years, really, really severely depressed. And so I couldn't really do anything for that period of time. And then I started again, just little bits and pieces here and there, but it was really hard to get me out of bed."

"And then finally it just turned out we had enough songs to make an album," she continued. "I just rely on my management to tell me when we've got enough good ones."

As for "Gimme Love," Sia says it just "blurpled out," adding, "I didn't think anything of it. I felt like it was lazy songwriting." She feels there are "way better ones" on the album.

Sia also opened up about her autism, which she first revealed in May. She told Zane she got evaluated after her friend Kathy Griffin suggested she might be on the spectrum.

"It turned out that I'm a level two autistic. There's three levels. And one is Asperger's, two is pretty autistic, and three is nonverbal," Sia said. "So it made a lot of sense to me, because I've suffered my whole life, really suffered, and I didn't know why ... [the diagnosis] was the best thing that ever happened to me."

Revealed: The messages on those friendship bracelets *NSYNC gave Taylor Swift

Courtesy of MTV

At the MTV VMAs on September 12, *NSYNC didn't just give Taylor Swift her first Moon Person of the night: They also gave her some friendship bracelets, in a nod to the Eras Tour trend. Since the exchange took place onstage and quickly, most viewers probably didn't get to see what the bracelets said — but that's now been revealed.

According to PopSugar, Lance Bass commissioned the bracelets from Latina-founded brand Little Words Project. The ones he handed Taylor said "Lover," "NSYNC," "TS," "Fearless" and "FTGWHE," which refers to the *NSYNC song "For the Girl Who Has Everything."

But those weren't the only bracelets in play that night. According to LWP's director of brand experience, Mariah Grippo, Lance had the company make bracelets that could've been handed out to any of the nominated artists,  including Olivia Rodrigo, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa and Pink.

"We had so much fun beading these while blasting *NSYNC music all night," Grippo told PopSugar.

Lance also commissioned bracelets for his *NSYNC bandmates to wear while presenting the award. The messages included "Dirty Pop," "NSYNC" and "10.01.95" — that last one is the day the group was formed.

According to the Little Words Project website, 25% of the net proceeds from each bracelet are donated to a different nonprofit.

Jason Momoa stars in first trailer for 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom'

Warner Bros.

Get ready to dive back in because the official trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is finally here.

The film, a sequel to 2018's Aquaman, features the return of Jason Momoa as the titular DC superhero (aka Arthur Curry) and new king of Atlantis, as well as James Wan in the director's chair.

In the trailer, Nicole Kidman's character Atlanna, Aquaman's mother, warns him that returning villain Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) "must be stopped or a global meltdown is imminent."

To best take on his nemesis, Aquaman reluctantly teams up with his brother, Orm (Patrick Wilson), who explains that Black Manta has the Black Trident, a weapon he says was a "curse" to the Seven Kingdoms during King Atlan's time upon the throne of Atlantis.

"The trident's dark magic is spreading," Atlanna says, with Orm explaining that Black Manta wants to "end the bloodline."

"I don't know what lies ahead, but we can't leave our children in a world without hope," says Aquaman, a new dad to a son he shares with Mera (Amber Heard), the queen of Atlantis.

Seemingly coming around to seeing his brother on the throne, Orm tells Aquaman, "You're not as bad at this as you think. If you lead, the Seven Kingdoms will follow."

Also returning from the first film are Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus and Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom swims into theaters worldwide on December 20.

Mariah Carey reflects on "Hero": "It's not my favorite ... but I'm most proud of where it's gone"

Sony Legacy

Mariah Carey has been looking back on her album Music Box, which just celebrated its 30th anniversary on  August 31. On Instagram, she posted a clip of herself reflecting on the impact and legacy of "Hero," one of her most enduring hits from that album.

"'Hero' was such a big record ... that kind of took on its own life after 9/11 and we [were] all doing our best, I feel, as entertainers, trying to make people feel better," Mariah says.

After the terror attacks in 2001, she sang "Hero" on the America: A Tribute to Heroes telethon; that October, she released a new version of it, recorded as a medley with her song "Never Too Far," as a charity single.

"It's not my favorite," she goes on to admit. "And I say that only because I think I've written songs that are more, like, heart-wrenching and miserable, whereas 'Heroes' is more like trying to be uplifting, which is great."

She adds, "Typically, I guess I might like the miserable ones. I don't know!"

Mariah is, however, "most proud of where it's kind of gone in the world and what people have sung it."

"I mean, Aretha Franklin actually sang that song. Luciano Pavarotti ... having him singing in Italian and I'm singing in English," she says.

"I pretty much always kind of have to do [the song live]...I've done it so many different times," she concludes. "So now we just do it differently and zhuzh it a little bit here and there and add new parts."

The 30th anniversary edition of Music Box is available now.

Paul Archuleta/FilmMagic

General Hospital fans are going to see a familiar face next month. People reports that Rena Sofer is set to return to the ABC soap opera, reprising her Daytime Emmy-winning role of Lois Cerullo.

It’s been 26 years since Sofer played Cerullo, a feisty character known for her Brooklyn accent. Cerullo was in a relationship with Wally Kurth's Ned Ashton, and they were one of the show’s most popular super couples.

Sofer played Cerullo for four years, from 1993 to 1997. The character was brought back to the show in 2004, played by Daytime Emmy winner Lesli Kay. Sofer and Kurth were actually married in real life, from 1995 to 1997, and have a daughter together.

Sofer's first appearance on the soap is expected in October. She’ll return as Ned is dealing with a case of amnesia, believing he’s Ned’s alter ego, rock star Eddie Maine, the man Louis initially fell in love with before finding out his true identity.
