Raymond Hall/GC Images

Can you believe Justin and Hailey Bieber have been married for five years? On September 13, 2018, the two tied the knot in a New York City courthouse, just two months after their engagement. Justin marked the milestone with a sweet Instagram post on Wednesday.

Next to a series of photos of themselves together, Justin wrote, "To the most precious, my beloved. 5 years. You have captivated my heart. I know from the depths of my soul down to my bones that this journey with you will only exceed our wildest expectations. So let’s keep dreaming big baby. Cheers to forever and ever. I love you with every fiber of my being."

He added, "HAPPY 5TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY!!!"

Hailey posted a similar series of photos with the simple caption, "5. I love you."

She also posted an Instagram Story pic of the two kissing, with the caption, "Happy Anniversary Baby."

A year after their marriage, Justin and Hailey held a traditional ceremony and party with friends and family in South Carolina.

"It was the epicenter": 25 years ago, MTV's 'Total Request Live' premiered

Dimitrios Kambouris/WireImage

Twenty-five years ago — September 14, 1998 — pop culture got a new hot spot: MTV's Total Request Live, which provided fans with a single place to get up close and personal with their favorite stars, from boy bands to movie idols. Former TRL co-host Dave Holmes tells ABC Audio there's no way to overstate just how big it was to that moment in time.

"TRL was TikTok and YouTube and Twitter and a skywriter and a blockbuster movie," said Holmes, now an editor-at-large for Esquire. "It was everything. It was the epicenter. We live in too 'niche-ified' a world, really, for kids to understand how important it was."

Holmes suggests one reason TRL became so influential was that in 1998, pop culture was more mainstream, with music, movies and TV shows that everybody knew. And, he says, "Everybody who was a face and a name and a voice in that popular culture had to stop by Total Request Live."

The other reason was the sudden emergence of teen pop — Britney, Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC — leading to what Holmes calls a symbiotic relationship.

"It was the perfect timing. A new show was starting ... and it just happened at the exact same time that there was pop music ... that had faces and voices and players who the kids could invest in."

Holmes, who was there at TRL's launch — and confirms the fans' votes really did count — thinks one particular video sums up the show: "I Want It That Way."

"When it would come on [TRL], everybody would sing along," he recalls. "Not only the girls that it was made for, but the boys who were a little ashamed. And me with my thing in my ear and a producer yelling at me, and the camera guy. It was undeniable."

HBO's 'Real Time with Bill Maher' set to return sans writers, WGA threatens to picket show

Janet Van Ham/HBO

Bill Maher announced on Wednesday, September 13 that he'll bring back his HBO show Real Time without writers, angering the WGA, which says it will picket the show.

" ... It has been five months, and it is time to bring people back to work," Maher wrote in a statement on X, formally Twitter. "The writers have important issues that I sympathize with, and hope they are addressed to their satisfaction, but they are not the only people with issues, problems, and concerns."

" ... We all were hopeful this would come to an end after Labor Day, but that day has come and gone, and there still seems to be nothing happening," he continued. "I love my writers, I am one of them, but I’m not prepared to lose an entire year and see so many below-the-line people suffer so much."

Maher vowed to "honor the spirit of the strike" by eliminating the show's scripted segments, including his monologue and New Rules, and while sans writers the show "will not be as good," the "off-the-cuff panel discussion ... will not disappoint."

The guild called Maher’s decision “disappointing” adding that it would picket the show.

“Bill Maher’s decision to go back on the air while his Guild is on strike is disappointing. If he goes forward with his plan, he needs to honor more than ‘the spirit of the strike,’" the Guild said in a statement on X. "Bill Maher is obligated as a WGA member to follow the strike rules and not perform any writing services. It is difficult to imagine how Real Time with Bill Maher can go forward without a violation of WGA strike rules taking place. WGA will be picketing this show.”

Maher also faced blowback from writers on social media, who labelled him a "scab."
