Johnny Depp claims he is being ‘boycotted’ by Hollywood innew interview

In a new interview with The Sunday Times, actor Johnny Depp claims he is being boycotted by Hollywood since losing a libel case last year against the British publication ‘The Sun’.

Over the course of the interview, the 58-year-old Depp alludes to “a surreal five years” and perceived professional struggles; however, he was unable to address some issues due to an upcoming court case against his ex-wife Amber Heard. However, Depp spoke of being overlooked by the movie industry, saying: “For Hollywood’s boycott of, erm, me. One man, one actor in an unpleasant and messy situation, over the last number of years.” Depp added: “Whatever I’ve gone through, I’ve gone through,” Depp said. “But, ultimately, this particular arena of my life has been so absurd…” Depp suffered several professional hits since the case was decided; most notably he was asked to resign from his starring role as Gellert Grindelwald in the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ film franchise. He shared the news via a statement on his official Instagram account in November of 2020. Despite the professional boycott, Depp is not ready to retire, saying: “Actually, I look forward to the next few films I make to be my first films, in a way.”

Depp scored a legal victory last month when a New York judge ruled that Heard had to prove she donated her divorce settlement to charity. That came after his request for a retrial of his libel case against The Sun was denied in March.

Live Nation to require proof of vaccine or negative COVIDtest at music events

As Delta variant cases surge across the country, concert promoter Live Nation is tightening its COVID restrictions. According to Rolling Stone, Live Nation will be requiring proof of vaccination or negative test results at live events beginning this fall. Live Nation previously announced it would allow artists to determine their own coronavirus protocols, but decided to update its policy after last month’s Lollapalooza, which required all attendees to provide a vaccine card or proof of a negative test result.

Live Nation president/CEO Michael Rapino said in a statement to Rolling Stone: “Vaccines are going to be your ticket back to shows …We will be following the model we developed for Lollapalooza and requiring this for artists, fans, and employees at Live Nation venues and festivals everywhere possible in the US.” The requirement will go into effect on Oct. 4, which is also the deadline for all Live Nation employees to be fully vaccinated if they wish to attend events or go into the company’s offices. Live Nation will incentivize its workers with paid days off for each vaccine appointment.

AEG announced a stricter mandate earlier this week, saying all concert-goers and staff members must provide proof of full vaccination by Oct. 1. Negative test results will not be accepted.
